Heroic historical memories of fighter Rathy

Fighter Rathy
Kandasamy Rathidaran
Sudumalai North,
Manipal, Yarlpanam
Birth: 13.08.1967
Death: 15.10.1988

Event: Became maveeran during the siege by Indian forces in Inuvil, Yarlpanam.

Those military beasts also intercepted a minibus and boarded it. The minibus started running from Manipay towards the Mathagal army camp. It was a tragic incident. Every Tamil in that bus was brutally tortured. They were shot and thrown on the streets. The fierce teeth of those green beasts destroyed the streets of our country.

After that incident, Suruli’s mind did not allow him to live outside, he became a complete fighter and started working with his brother Pandithar.

Time passed. The liberation struggle continued. One of Suruli’s younger brothers, Rathytharan, also joined the LTTE.

It was a time when Indian forces invaded Tamileelam and started a war. Thousands of people were killed across the country. Many Tamil women were brutally raped. Many who loved this land were taken away – tortured and killed. Tamileelam was filled with Indians with no place to leave.

In those days, Suruli and his comrades fought hard to protect the weapons and documents. In those days, they protected the liberation struggle. They protected the weapons for that.

A few days passed. Indian soldiers started searching for Suruli. Suruli’s house was often surrounded. His family, who had been fighting for the struggle, was subjected to cruel torture. – A social anti-national started to resolve the enmity that had existed for many years by standing with the Indians.

It was then that one day, Suruli’s younger brother Rathytharan and his comrades were surrounded by Indian forces and anti-nationals. There was a small fight. Rathytharan’s body was also hit by a few bullets. His comrades escaped.

The Indian soldiers dragged Rathytharan’s lifeless body through the streets. A fighter who loved this land – was dragged through the streets of this country by anti-nationals and Indians.

When the Indian army stopped here, Suruli, who had been in the Vanni for some time, came back to Yarlpanam and started to act. In those dangerous times, Suruli and his comrades had to act very carefully. The anti-nationals and Indians camped at every street corner, at every intersection. The people of Tamileelam lived in the – breasts of Indian guns.

At that time, the weapons needed for the attack had to be taken out of hiding. The rest had to be protected. For this, Suruli and his comrades had to wander around in search of trusted people.

After the Indian forces left this land, Suruli joined the intelligence unit of the LTTE. Suruli is a person who completes any task given with a sense of responsibility and completes it well. One of the things that jumped out at him from the pundits was simplicity.

Suruli, who was running around the village streets on a bicycle for some work without paying attention to himself was involved in a bomb accident. He fought with death for three days.

On 30.5.1991, Major Suruli became maveeran.
