In the memory of the patriotic scholar P. Ganavathipillai
The patriotic scholar P. Ganavathipillai
The only son of Paramanandar and Parvathi, who were born in the wealthy Ariyalaiyur area of Yarlpanam. He was educated at Ariyalai Siri/Parvathi Vidyalaya and Ya/Kanagaratnam Madhya Mahavidyalaya. He served as a master and principal, guiding students in the right direction and making them good citizens. He was a scholar who could answer the questions of why, how and for what only if they were answered fully.
He tirelessly participated in services such in temples with Pancha Puranam recitation, Puranapadanam, Thiruvasakam, Muttothal. He took charge of many tasks in temples, community centers, Thirumurai Mandrams, and Hindu Mandrams and carried out many social works and guided the people of that village.
He played an important role in getting the right to self-determination for the Tamileelam people along with his Thanthai Selva. Later, he realized the need for our Tamileelam liberation struggle and made many people aware of the need for the struggle and acted as the Nallur district leader. Realizing that the Sinhalese who were carrying out ethnic cleansing with weapons could only be suppressed with weapons, he received auxiliary force training and made many like him realize the need for armed struggle.
Not only that, but he also contributed greatly to the activities of the national leader of Tamileelam by dedicating his two eldest sons, Lt. Col. Santosam Master, who became maveeran on 21/10/1987, and his brother, Puthiyavan Master, who became maveeran in the final battle, to the Tamileelam liberation struggle. He was a great supporter of the national leader of Tamileelam.
He not only brought the experiences he gained in life and the needs of the struggle to all the platforms he implemented through his individual personality, whether in temples, schools, and forums, but also, considering the importance of future education, provided free education for those classes after completing school. Despite his failing health, he participated in public meetings for the people until the end and provided the necessary political clarity for the people during those times.
He died on 22.02.2002 due to illness during his struggle for Tamil nationalism. Realizing his selfless sense of duty to the nation, he was honored as a patriot by the National Leader of Tamileelam.
