Lep Col Mathana

Lep Col Mathana

Her role in recruiting more personnel for the struggle in Mattacalappu, providing training and building up the brigade is notable. This period was a time of great pain and trial for them. It was a time when the Sri Lankan army was completely occupied by the Maddunagar forests. Even in the absence of basic facilities, Madana never lost hope and determination in moments when she was strong. She would cheer up his comrades with a smile.

After this, she mobilized the brigade and made it possible for the brigade to participate in attacks against the Sri Lankan army.

She effectively performed in all ambushes and major attacks such as the destruction of the military base in the city, the destruction of the military base in the city, and the destruction of the 4th Muchanthi military base.

Captain Anbarasi died a heroic death during the destruction of the 4th Muchanthi military base. Anbarasi was an active and intelligent fighter. She, along with Madana, helped in the development of the Women’s Brigade. In her memory, the Amparai Women’s Brigade was named Anbarasi Brigade. The leadership, recognizing Madana’s activity, courage, understanding and ability to lead the troops in the fields, appointed Madana as the special commander of the Anbarasi Brigade.

Madana would dance and enjoy herself with her comrades with love and warmth. She would lead the fighters as a mother on the field and a commander who would conduct the troops in the field with dignity. She loved to play with her comrades. If it was four o’clock in the afternoon, she would not let her comrades stay on the field. She would encourage all her comrades to play football, volleyball, cricket, vattakavadi, and other games and would play with them herself.

This is his idea that the mentality of every fighter is balanced.

In the attacks on the role of Madana, the attacks on the Sinhala army that was patrolling the crowded places of Sandiveli, Murakottan Senai, and Mavadivembu were remembered by the people. In this, many enemies and military equipment were destroyed. The enemy was shaken by the bravery of the female LTTE under Madana’s leadership. The people were amazed. Madana also played a major role in the Pulukunava victory battle with his troops. There is hardly nor place in Mattacalappu where her feet have not touched. The wild trees, mountains, and waterfalls of the eastern forests all know her.

On 1997.03.05, his team was given a target in the attack on the Vavunatheevu occupation army base where the Gajapahu Special Forces were stationed. The fight began at 1.05 in the morning. The fierce battle continued for eight hours. With more than a hundred soldiers killed, the remaining enemies began to flee in terror. Having successfully captured the area given to her, Madana’s voice rang out enthusiastically on the communication device.

“We have completely captured and cleared our area”

After her work in the field was over, a stray shell took her life. A wounded comrade came carrying Madana’s body.

Madana – She was the youngest commander of the women’s battalion. Today, it is a long list to mention her name.
