Lep. Colonel Amuthap

Lep. Colonel Amuthap

Just hearing the name “Colonel Amuthap” brings many emotions to mind. Even the enemy will be terrified and die of fear. The enemy who will turn into a corpse even if he is alive is both life and body. So much bravery, courage, honesty, martial arts, battlefield experience, fighting spirit, unquenchable thirst to conquer Eelam, deep love for the national leader, affection for the people of Tamileelam, and caring for the welfare of the fighters present, this revolutionary fighter is full of so many good qualities and personalities.

It is an undeniable fact that no one can fully describe his heroic deeds. Among the many pearls that we have lost in Tamileelam, Lt. Col. Amuthap is one of the pearls.

He was a wealthy son born in a small village called Ichankulam, Shastri Koolankulam in Vavuniya district. Money and affection, A son of a wealthy family, full of love, affection, and care. He grew up very prosperously, not knowing poverty from birth. He completed his primary school education in the same village school.

In general, it is true that there was a wrong view among our people during that period. That is, only those who are suffering, those who are poor, those who are unemployed, and those who are useless become fighters in the struggle. It is an undeniable fact that there was a completely different wrong view among the people.

That wrong view was changed by an act of Lt. Col. Amuthap. That is, he, who was born into a family that did not know what poverty was, saw the condition of the Tamils and saw the racist Sinhalese treating the Tamils as slaves, and with a stance that we can only fight to restore our rights, Lt. Col. Amuthap joined the path of the Tamileelam National Leader as a fighter.

It is an undeniable fact that the mentality of the people who had a wrong view gradually changed from that time on.

Those who are truly poor or unemployed are not fighters. They are ideal fighters fighting for our race, for the dawn of our Tamileelam. People began to realize that they are very noble, and that our struggle is a struggle for fair rights under the guidance of a strong, honest, and just leader.

He joined the army, saw many battlefields, received many wounds, made many heroic achievements, and gradually achieved many promotions due to his abilities. In 2003 and 2004 (the period when the peace agreement was signed between the Sri Lankan Army and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam), Lt. Col. Amuthap came to Vavuniya district where he was born, raised, and lived.

He came there and shared the history of our struggle and struggle with our people and the younger community. It is also absolutely true that (because of his speaking ability) many people joined the struggle during the peace period as well.

Many do not know that his nephew Vinoth (name changed), who saw him in person and experienced his knowledge, also joined the struggle.

It is also a fact that many do not know that after joining the struggle, going to Vanni region, completing his basic struggle training, after a certain period, his uncle (i.e. Lt. Col. Amuthap) and his nephew also joined the struggle and both did some work in Vavuniya district.

After this, he got married. (It is noteworthy that his wife was also a fighter.) A beautiful baby boy was born in the sweetness of home. Even after that, he continued to do his frontline work without any relaxation.

Thus, in 2009, despite many displacements, the enemy’s sudden advances, and many betrayals, Lt. Col. Amuthap was one of the thousands of fighters who remained steadfast until the end.

On 31.03.2009, Lt. Colonel Amuthap became a maveeran.

It is also noteworthy that his nieces, Captain Anbini (became maveeran in a direct clash with the army in the Vilankulam area of Vanni) and Maveeran Arivoli (qualification status unknown) and Maveeran Meimagal (qualification status unknown) also call him Prabhu Mama.

There are many more things to say about him. It is impossible to say everything here.
