Arunan was one of the thousands of heroes who emerged to rescue the Tamil nation from the sea of suffering. Thunnalai wore the lush green fields of the North Marathi region and the colorful mango, jackfruit, palm and coconut trees that competed to touch the sky as her ornaments. Thunnalai is the city that deserves the honor of raising Arunan and the honor of raising Captain Miller, who was the first to engrave his name as a Karumpuli. Sasikaran was born on 16.12.1973 as the son of Rajendram Poomani couple with the pet name Kannan. Growing up in the warmth of his mother and the guidance of his father. He joined the freedom struggle in 1989 as a Tamil hero in the country. From that day on, he was called Aruna – Arunan.

After completing his initial training at the Dinesh-11 training camp and working in many fields, in 199, Arunan led a 30-member team to the air-sea battle over Aanayiravu. While fighting bravely with the enemy, Arunan heard about the martyrdom of his sister Captain Leema. He cried two tears for her and fought with determination.

Later, while his team was engaged in intercepting the troops advancing from the forest towards Pullaveli, he was wounded in the head. Knowing that the military operation to besiege the Manalaru area had begun, he also wanted to go to the battlefield and fight. He asked permission from the commander in charge. But the commander said that he could go after fully recovered. Arunan said, “My injury has healed.”

A team of 30 people was sent for this fight under Arunan´s leadership. The fight lasted for 25 days. He and his team fought bravely. During this fight, he wounded again. The commander, seeing his talent, courage and agility, appointed him as the Vadamaradchi Division Commander in 1993. He performed his duty diligently and efficiently. His love took root in the hearts of the young children here. He gained an indelible place in the hearts of the people living here and became their beloved.

Before being appointed as the Vadamaradchi Division Commander, he was also one of those selected for the Officers’ Training College. He displayed his talents there and achieved good results.

During the mortar attack led by him in the Palali area in 1995, he lost one leg. However, he did not lose heart. He continued to do the administrative work of the Yarlpanam district effectively. He completed the back-end work efficiently during Operation “Suriyakkathir”. After this, he was appointed as the supply officer for the fighters stationed in the Yarlpanam area from the Vanni region.

In late 1996, he joined the Naval Team of the LTTE. He mastered the war methods that made the foreign ships coming from the sea in chaos. His courage, determination and actions made him a hero who led many teams as a Naval Team commander.

On 22-09-1998, the morning sun spread its rays and dispelled the darkness. It was 5.30 in the morning. The enemy ships were approaching the Mullai sea area in formation with the slogan “I am”.

At that moment, the ships of Arunan’s team opened their eyes. They scattered the enemy boats and ran away. While the boats of Arunan’s team were moving very fast and enthusiastically to intercept and attack the boats that were going backwards, a volley fired from the enemy ship separated Arunan from us.

He who had been with us for ten years to breathe the air of independent Tamileelam.
