National Leader’s speech at the Muthamil festival

National Leader’s speech at the Muthamil festival

In 1991, the Tamileelam National Leader V. Prabhakaran directly participated and graced the Muthamil festival. The National Leader appeared before a sea of people at a grand public meeting held in Sudumalai in 1987. At this historic festival held in Savakacheri the nation leader Prabhakaran honored ten great men who were selected for their excellent service in various fields in Tamileelam.

National Leader V. Prabhakaran’s speech at the festival.

Dear people of Tamileelam, whom I love and respect. I am very happy to be directly participating in this historically important national event today. I am proud to have this opportunity to honor and respect the noble people, the true sons of the land, who have worked and are working for the revival of the Tamileelam, for the liberation of the people of Tamileelam, and for the revival of the national culture of Tamileelam. It is the culture of Tamils to respect and honor good people who do good deeds.

I express my appreciation to the Cultural Association of our movement for organizing this special ceremony in accordance with this noble tradition. We honor those who are being honored here with the National Award, the highest honor of the Tamileelam nation, as great human beings, because they are all dedicated idealists, non-racial and patriots. They are rare individuals who have stood beyond the narrow circle of selfishness and served for the welfare of society, the welfare of the nation, and the welfare of the people. Their intelligence, creativity, and efficiency have all contributed to the advancement of the Tamileelam community. Their work must continue, and their service must be enhanced. This is why we have decided to honor them with a national award in high esteem. There is meaning and importance in calling this honorary award a national award.

We, the people of Tamileelam, have a national structure. We have historically lived as a nation, we are living as a nation, and we will continue to live as a nation. Whether our enemy accepts or rejects our nationhood, we will always proclaim to the world that our nationhood is unique and an indestructible political reality. The title we are given as a national award is such a proclamation. Today, we are honoring some of the outstanding national servicemen by presenting them with national awards. Although only a few patriots have been selected for this national award, this award should be considered an honor given to all the people. Our people deserve to be admired and honored. I would say that the contribution of our people to the national struggle is not ordinary, but immense.

Our countless supporters and sympathizers who have been supporting the struggle from the shadows should be called great men of determination; For a long time, the masses have been bearing the brunt of the struggle. The suffering that our people have faced in the form of death and destruction, hunger and starvation, blood and tears cannot be described in words. In all liberation struggles in the world, it is the common people who bathe in the fire of oppression, because the oppressors are more concerned with breaking the spiritual resolve of the common people than with destroying the fighters. But these efforts never succeed. The people’s sense of freedom cannot be destroyed by oppression. This is a truth that is echoed throughout world history. Because the sense of freedom is the essence of the human soul and is the vital force that drives human history. Even though the Sinhala chauvinist oppression has brought death, destruction and unbearable suffering to our people, it has aroused national loyalty and a thirst for freedom in an unprecedented way. It has awakened the national soul of the Tamils.

The Muthamil festival that we are celebrating today is a tremendous expression of the uprising of our people. In a time of war, when the enemy’s war cry is heard on the borders, thousands of people gather like an ocean and participate in this Muthamil festival. This call for freedom has not gone unnoticed by our enemies.

The Sinhalese nation and the international community cannot ignore the uprising voice of our nation that rises like the sound of a raging earthquake. Only people united by a common goal and determined by a common goal will create history. It is a fact that our national land will be born as a free land because of this history.

The thirst of the Tigers is Tamileelam
