The death of Thuraiyappa

The death of Thuraiyappa

The LTTE, led by Prabhakaran, acts as planned. Alfred Thuraiyappa, the great traitor of the Tamil nation, is shot dead by Prabhakaran near the Ponnalay Varatharaja Perumal Temple on July 27, 1975.

The murder of Alfred Thuraiyappa sent shockwaves through the Sinhalese government. This incident served as a warning to the Tamil traitors who were trying to betray the Tamil struggle. This incident also put an end to the attempts of Sinhala chauvinist parties to establish themselves in Tamileelam.

The LTTE launched the first chapter of the armed resistance movement launched against the Sinhala communal oppression. Prabhakaran successfully carried out the first armed war operation that shook Tamileelam in the seventies and began a long and difficult historical journey towards liberation.

On May 5, 1976, the New Tamil Tigers were renamed the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. As a national liberation movement that combined the military and political systems, the LTTE were on a steady path of development. The Tamil Police Intelligence Force was the greatest threat to our budding liberation movement and the national struggle of the Tamils at that time.

Traitors who joined this intelligence force acted as pawns of the Sinhalese government. They acted as puppets of the enemy, determined not to allow an armed struggle to grow in Tamileelam. Therefore, the initial guerrilla activities of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam were aimed at destroying the police intelligence force and destroying the traitors.
