On 17.08.1996, while engaged in an operation in the Vetrilakeni sea area of Yarlpanam District, Lt. Col. Shivaji, the Commander of the Charles Anthony Special Forces, unexpectedly met his death in a direct clash with the Sri Lankan Navy.
