SP Tamilchelvan joined the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in 1984.
He was trained at the 4th LTTE training camp in Tamil Nadu and served as the personal coordinator of the Tamil Eelam National Leader in Tamil Nadu.
