After the war, a reporter asked the Vietnamese president, how this is possible? A small country in South Asia. How did it defeat the superpower the United States?
The President answered: “It is very difficult to defeat a superpower like the United States. However, I read a heroic and courageous story of a historical hero. The victory of ours was made possible only by the strong touching of the story. His war tactics. We followed the tactics in our war. And we had victory.
Who is the hero? The reporter was so curious to know about him.
It was no one else that the hero from East Asia, Rajaraja Cholan, the President answered.
If only such a hero had appeared in Vietnam, the world would have been in our hands by now, he said.
The president died a few years later. The words engraved on his grave at his will:
“Rajarajan’s polite servant is resting here.”

A few years later, the Vietnamese Foreign Minister visited India. As usual, they took the minister to the Gandhi Statue, Sakti Stall, Senkottai and so. The Vietnamese Minister was tired and asked where Rajaraja Cholan´s birthplace was? And his palace and statue? The Indian Army were surprised to hear the minister, but they answered him. It all is in Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu. The Vietnamese Minister told them to take him to Thanjavur immediately. The Indian Army flew to Thanjavur.
The Vietnamese Minister prayed in the great temple of Tanjavur and after that he took a handful of soil from the birthplace of his idol Rajaraja Cholan and saved it in his bag. As usual, the press questioned about this.
The minister answered. This soil is the soil where Rajaraja Cholan was born and raised. It is full of heroism and victory. When I reach Vietnam I will mix this soil in my national soil. Let thousands of Rajaraja Cholans be born on Vietnamese soil.
