வீரன்) warrior Alaku-muthukon

வீரன்) warrior Alaku-muthukon was an early freedom fighter who inspired the general population to the popular sentiment of revolting against the occupying British empire rule.

He was one of the commanders of the Ettayapuram settlers in the Tirunelveli area.

When the highly decorated British serving general; Yusuf Khan known commonly as Kanzaki, forcefully removed the existing Ettayapuram settler and appointed kurumalai thurai Nayak as the next & new settler, Alaku-muthukon rallied his troops and rushed to Ettaya puram.

In the battle of Bethanayakkanur, the occupying British empire won and the fort was lost to Alaku-muthukon. The royal family escaped with the younger brother of Alaku-muthukon.

Unfortunately, during the battle, 258 men including Alaku-muthukon and his 7 generals were captured by the British and were executed in a hideous act of violence.

The 258 captured infantry men’s right hands were chopped off and were also paralysed.

Alaku-muthukon unfortunately faced a much more gruesome death by the occupying British empire by being forcefully fed the firing end of a cannon resulting in an unspeakable and violent death of the commander.
