The first Declaration of War against the colonising forces of the Indian subcontinent by European Empire was by the indigenous Tamil royalty; Marudu Pandiyar brothers – The Maruthu Pandiyar brothers were notable figures within the indigenous Tamil Empire. On 16th June in the year of 1801, the Marudu Pandiyar brothers were the first declare and wage war against the occupying forces from the British empire.
