Battle and Medicine – Thuyavan

Darkness was everywhere. You can’t see anything nearby. The rain clouds blocking the sky’s starlight. A herd of Karumpulikal roams the Elephant grounds with care. The drops of fresh water they splash cools the body. Only their heartbeat vibrates their eardrums. Even the slightest inattention of theirs can set off the enemy. It is a lesson of experience that ‘Death if reason is lost’. It is not only for these people but also for the angel of victory who is to be received by them.

They move surrounded by these thoughts. Then a snake embedded a freedom fighter in the leg. It is said that ‘If it is a snake, the army will tremble.’ But it has been a long time since the Karumpulikal forgot their fear. Anticipated risks are relatively easy to deal with. The fighter bitten by the snake along with a field doctor entered a ditch and hid themselves safely.

About 70% of terrestrial snakes are sterile. So, chances are that a snake bite is harmless. However, it needs to be confirmed. It can be ensured superficially that the nerve system is not affected by the poison. By watching the blood clot for about ten minutes, you can make sure that the blood vessels are not damaged. Light is needed to do this. A small light in an enemy’s den and a lamp on a hill will bring past dangers before the eyes. However, action must be taken. In one way, blood extracted from a vein is coagulated with the help of a thin beam of light. It is confirmed that the snake bite is harmless. The company successfully accomplishes its offensive objective and recovers without any losses. The success of “Oyaatha Alaikal – 2” is what it is.

In the early morning of 01.02.1998, the medical camp was working very vigorously. Emergency treatment is being given to those injured during the fierce attack on the Kilinochchi army base on the first night. Various tasks such as providing first aid, performing minor surgeries, loading blood fluid media, and transferring them immediately to those who are being unloaded from the speeding vehicles should be carried out quickly. Then the noise of the Kibir bombers circling in the sky vibrates the ground and the sky. Doubts arise that this camp may be attacked. Immediately everyone tries to evacuate the injured to safety and into the underground bunker. Without enough time, the medical camp comes under air attack. During this, 43 people, including the doctors Major Susil, Major Rohini and Major Diwakar, Major Esther, who saved the lives of many freedom fighters in the battles since Poonakari victory attack till today. A lot of attention was paid to the subsequent offensive planning so that the above bitter experience would not continue. It was revealed in “Oyatha Alaikal -2”.

More than 1000 freedom fighters were injured in air and sea attack, frog jump attack. Jaffna Teaching Hospital – more than a hundred doctors and more than a thousand staff who worked here peaked their life-saving work. This wealth was adding great strength to our fighting power. There was no doubt that the enemy would do everything in his power to eliminate this and others of the kind, and their plans to obtain replacements for this had already begun to take shape a few years earlier.

In 1993, during the Kokkuthoduvai attack in Manalaru, we had to travel tens of miles to reach the Jaffna Hospital from Kalmunai. A few hours had to be spent crossing the Klaly Canal. Factors such as the heroic death of those who were predicted to be saved during this time, the loss of limbs due to the delay in repairing damaged blood vessels, and the additional pains they experienced during the travel accidents, stirred our minds. We felt that the above setbacks could be avoided if we made significant progress in porch surgery.

A vigilante in Mullai Battle expressed his thoughts as follows. We moved without problem and settled in our respective places. Other places don’t seem to be confused either. There was no doubt that we would win this attack completely. But what if injured? There was a Jaffna Hospital before. It is obvious that several hundred fighters will be injured. Thus, it is natural for them to have such a state of mind. Over a thousand people were injured in the first two days of the attack.

We successfully faced the medical burden that arose. This gave them extra psychological strength. The special skills resulting from the experiences in Satjaya and Jayasikkuru Battles were manifested in the action of our doctors of freedom fighters. This contributed to the evolution of the freedom fighters´ fighting power. For example, doctors of freedom fighters started moving along with the fighters. It is a problem that many fighters are injured and brought to our control area immediately during sub-combat operations such as staying in the enemy’s territory for several days. Treatments must be carried out within enemy bases if they are to survive. The said freedom fighters need to feel safe in the cover of forests and insecurity. Doctors of freedom fighters carry a small surgical theater on their shoulders in the jungles for this work. While engaged in such work Major Chandran became maveeran on 10.11.97.

It is necessary to mention the great contribution of our people in the publication of the ideas of Battle and Medicine. Even as the battles expanded, their help was timeless, and the help they gave when they knew the need was unforgettable. The spread caused by words is beyond definition. They donated blood for their fighters despite the economic embargo, drug embargo, etc. And the list goes on, helping to quickly evacuate the injured for safety reasons, preparing tasty meals, cooperating with secret security, nursing those who have renounced their own bonds in the agony of vigilance, showering love as a mother and helping to ease their pain. What’s more, his lack of concern for his own safety has mesmerized us. We were pleasantly surprised to see the drivers maneuvering their vehicles gracefully in the rain of shells and air strikes. It is also noteworthy that some people devoted their lives to the need in such cases.

On the morning of 10.06.98, Swathipura village was functioning as usual. Kibir bombers suddenly occupy the airspace and destroy people’s homes. Artilleries launched from Anayiravu Army Camp are also accompanying. As a result, many civilian bodies are dissected. Many others are seriously injured and cry out. After the attack calmed down for a while, civilians and freedom fighters were involved in the rescue operation and the village was again caught in air and grenade attacks. The air and ground were covered by smoke and the rescued people were taken to Puthukudiyiruppu General Hospital. A lot of people were injured. The hospital does not have enough facilities to treat everyone. Many of them are also taken to LTTE’s surgery centers. Emergency life-saving treatment is administered.

When the enemy suddenly attacks us in large numbers, a large number of people will be injured. And when attacking the enemy in a number of ways unprecedented in military science for quick and decisive victories, hundreds of fighters will suffer various injuries within a few hours. At this time, they are forced to give priority to life saving and treatment. It is important to note that our medical and other resources are also limited. Not everyone can be treated in a way that is completely satisfactory in the long run. Due to this, many people continue to suffer from the irregularity of the nerves, the irregular placement of the nerves, and the appearance of unsightly appearance in areas like the face. Minimizing the impact of such impacts requires professional assistance from the sector. On behalf of the people carrying these deep crosses the above message is being brought to the attention of our Tamil relations spread across the world.
