Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO)

01:  A large number of Tamils ​​migrated from their motherland and sought refuge in India after the continuation of ethnic cleansing against the Tamil people in Sri Lanka in 1983. The Tamileelam national leader who knew the sufferings of the Tamils ​​staying in the refugee camps. In 1985, he formed the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization as a service structure for the welfare of these people.

02: TRO worked with objectives of ”Relief, Rehabilitation, Development”.

03: The Tamil Rehabilitation Organization, which initially worked for the welfare of Tamils ​​staying in Tamil Nadu, started working in Tamileelam from 1987.

04: TRO formed seven-member Socio Economic Development Committees at village level to achieve its objectives. One of the seven acted as the leader and the other seven were responsible for other matters. They are housing, education, health, rehabilitation, industry, agriculture and public affairs.

05: TRO formed regional local non-governmental organizations by consolidating the heads of the village organizations, the Socio-Economic Development Committees. District-level TRO branch organizations were formed to coordinate the NGO organizations and the leadership team functioned to coordinate the district organizations.

06: TRO acted as mother organization by creating regional NGOs in the service of the people as well as district-level central structures and many other NGOs.

TRO has created more than 30 regional organizations and has also created and streamlined more than 10 core organizational structures.

There are many regional organizations such as Mullaitheevu Refugee Rehabilitation Institute, Akarayan Development Institute, Pattipalaya Development Institute, Company, Vavuniya Development Rehabilitation Institute, Manthi West Development Corporation etc.
