Heroic salute! Today is the day of the heroism of the Jaffna District Commander, Lt. Col. Pandian. He, while being surrounded by Indian forces in the Karainagar area of Jaffna District on 09.01.1988, shot himself and became maveeran. Imran and Pandian are close friends.
They were born in a place called Kokkuvil Prampady in Jaffna and lived next door to each other as friends. They joined the freedom struggle as friends, fought on the battlefields as friends, and sacrificed their lives for their cause as friends. When the Jaffna district was brought under complete control under the leadership of Colonel Kiddu, when the Sri Lankan police station in Chunnakam was besieged and attacked, all the Sri Lankan police officers fled from there.
Imran, one of the leaders of the team that had set out to capture the Sri Lankan police station, was caught in an enemy trap and suffered a serious injury, breaking his right femur. After breaking his leg, Imran went to Tamil Nadu for medical treatment. At that time, Pandiyan participated in various attacks under the leadership of Colonel Kiddu in the Jaffna district. At the same time, the leader was organizing a team for his own protection.
Imran is included in that security team. When it came to selecting the experienced fighters who stood in the fields to protect the leader, Pandiyan and Imran were close friends. They studied together, played together, and fought together as fighters. They were selected for that security team because of their unity and the bravery they showed in the fields. Both were important commanders and responsible people in the security team, organizing the leader’s security teams.
