Major Ganes

The fall of a mountain!

His death was not the fall of a leaf but the fall of a mountain.
Major Ganesh has become a thrilling chapter in the history of the Tamil Eelam Liberation War.
Large mustache – thick lips – plump chest. Ganesh wandered around as a volcano in the field.
The landscape is scattered by the Muttur Rivers. The dark tent of the Muslim extremists who are destroying the homes of Tamils in the name of protection for Islamic Tamils. Tamil Eelam is surrounded by wire fence by 9 army camps and 3 action police stations. Here, Ganesh rises up The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

He was 20 years old when he met National leader Prabhakaran in 198, and joined the LTTE. But already at that age there was a wave of fire flashed in his eyes. Ganesh´s feelings of liberation was developed when he was studying together with Seelan.

Ganesh was together with Commander Seelan in a warrior fields. Those were the days when Ganesh learned lessons from his life.

Commander Seelan fell in Meesala and this put a strong feel in Ganesh. He never forgot the death of his school friend.

It was in Nelliyadi, in 02.07.1982 that Ganesh wrote the first chapter of the history of his struggle in which he defeated the patrolling police force. From that day he met a lot of struggle.

Chavakachcheri police station attack
Umayalpuram operation of military vehicles
Tirunelveli historic war in which 13 army fanatics were killed for the first time
Kaluwanchikudi police station attack
Firing on a traitor in a temple
Siege of Eechalambath
Army’s first landmine attack
Palamoddaru attack against military
First time of overtaking L.M.G rifles from military
Ralkuli surrounding
3rd Colony Army direct confrontation
Vaharai landmine attack

Abduction of Police war commanders who tried to rape Tamil women and saving of these women.
The first time in the history where LTTE destroyed a military helicopter, Sampur War.
Yes, Ganesh is the hero who crossed the boundary of fame.

Ganesh, who saw the fields from Karainagar, one of the northern villages of Tamil Nadu, to Tirukoil, one of the southern villages, measured the whole of Tamil Eelam with his two feet. Jaffna, Mannar, Vavuniya, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Ampara, he was all over Tamileelam. He knew about how many rivers, tributaries, sea currents, dividing and filling there were in Tamil Eelam. He was a perfect blow to those who want to fence the North and the East.
Ganesh was born into a poor family in the village of Kantalai. Ganesh lived a simple life without luxuries. It is more appropriate to say that the Tigers wanted to be like Ganesh more than to say that they liked him.

The Tigers liked to sit next to Ganesh on the beautiful shores of Kunith Thavin and talk happily. Those days were happy days. Once Ganes sent a group to the city of Muttur to stop the riots of the Sinhala ruler who tried to divide Tamils by creating religious strife between Islamists and non-Islamists. When the group was arrested by the military, Ganesh fought and rescued them. He stood close not only to the LTTE but also to the people.
This hero´s death was horrible! It was in 5.11.1986 at 4 pm, when the military surrounded the Big Bridge in Trincomalee District. Major Ganesh fought against the military until the last breath and became a hero. The National leader lost on of his best weapon.
Oh Ganesh!

Are you gone… No!
Your mother comes to you with her cooked meal from the refugee camp. Your father, even though during his fear, comes to see you.

You take your mothers meal and give a piece to all of us Tigers!
The piece rice you fed turned into blood in our body now.
We are walking…
Same submarine… Same field path…

Thanks to: Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, February 1987.
