An Irreparable loss of the Nation

“Voice of the Nation” Anton Balasingham

An Irreparable loss of the Nation – an official announcement by the National Leader

Head Office

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam,

Tamil Eelam  14th of December 2006

Today, the guiding light of our nation, who stood by me through every political and diplomatic endeavor of our freedom movement, has been extinguished. Bala Annai is no longer here for me to seek advice and solace. His passing is an irreparable loss, not only to me but to the entire nation of Tamil Eelam.

Human life spans the fragile period between birth and death, and this journey is never uniform, smooth, or predictable. For one, it is brief; for another, extended; for yet others, it ebbs and flows unpredictably. Tragically, Bala Annai’s life was cut short, just as our liberation struggle, which he contributed to so deeply, had intensified. I cannot come to terms with this loss. The weight of sorrow crushes my spirit, breaking my heart. I cannot find words for the flood of emotions raging within me like an unbridled storm; they defy human expression.

From the day we first met, an unmatched understanding bound us together. That understanding gave rise to a deep bond, which matured into a profound friendship. Over time, it grew into a union of shared thoughts and actions, strengthened daily by our shared experiences. Ours was not a typical relationship; it was an unshakable ideal, ripened by time and history.

I loved Bala Annai deeply. For three decades, he was like the elder son of our great family, the Liberation Movement, and I held him in that same regard. In our days of unity and harmony, I came to realize he was no ordinary man. Even when he was gravely ill and suffering through unbearable pain, his resolve remained unbroken. His unwavering strength touched my heart, and whenever he suffered, my soul was troubled.

Bala Annai holds a lasting place in the growth and expansion of our movement. He was a veteran political activist, an eloquent orator, a philosopher, and above all, my closest friend and constant inspiration. He was my counselor and my comforter. He shared my dreams and burdens, standing with me from the very beginning of our liberation movement, enduring all trials, tribulations, challenges, and humiliations. He was the wellspring of our political and diplomatic initiatives.

It is with great pride that I honor him as the voice of the nation, recognizing his significant contributions to both the political and diplomatic spheres, as well as his tireless efforts to bring our struggle for national independence to the world stage. Bala Annai has not truly left us; he will live on in our memories forever.
