Martyrdom of the Defense (Lance) Secretary, Tamil Eelam Finance Officer, Thamizhendi (Ranjithappa). Colonel. Thamizhendi (Sabaratnam Shelathurai) was born on 15.02.1950 in Jaffna district. From the early days of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Struggle, he devoted himself fully to supporting its development.
He was well respected as a national leader and by militants for his unique ability to effectively operate the financial sector. He was martyred in a shell attack by the Sri Lankan Occupation Forces on 10.03.2009. A person known as Thamizhendi Appa who worked for freedom during the early days of Tamil Eelam freedom struggle. He oversaw the financial department of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and was involved in various activities to get funds for the liberation struggle at home and abroad. He was engaged in activities to create various dairy sectors in the motherland and obtain the income of the government of a country in various ways. For this purpose, he created many divisions, farms, industrial roads, and carried out agricultural activities to earn income for the liberation struggle. During the peace period, he adopted the Tamil language and worked hard to promote Tamil in all administrative structures.
He worked with many initiatives to learn programs and the history of Tamil through its language for many freedom solidiers . During the time when the war in the motherland was intensifying, he was transferred by the National Leader of Tamil Eelam as the Defense Secretary of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and undertook the next phase of the liberation struggle. During this period, the National Leader of Tamil Eelam was closely involved in many developments in the military sector after seeing the activities of the fighters in the field and the structure of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. Meanwhile, during this time in the war, he became a hero and martyr after the shelling attack of the Sri Lankan soldiers in Pudukudiripu, Eranaippaalai area on 10.03.2009. Since the early period of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Struggle, he fully dedicated himself to support its development and with his unique ability to effectively operate the financial department, the national leader was well respected by them and the militants.
