The Charles Antony Brigade was founded on 10th April 1991 by the LTTE as the first Special Legacy Fighting Brigade. This was followed by major LTTE battles, including the Jayasikuru operation, the 1996 Mullaitheevu war, the Kilinochchi war (2008-2009), the Elephant Pass attack (2000), and the Relentless Waves 1, 2, 3 and 4 (Ojaatha Alayhal 1-4).
The brigade was named after Seelan, the right hand of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran in the early days of the LTTE. Balraj, Amuthab and Gopit were the commanders who led the brigade. The regiment was completely destroyed in the last days of the Eelam War.
