Colonel Kiddu 16.01.1993 – 16.01.2024

The Memorial Day of the 10 maveerar including Sathasivam Krishnakumar aka Colonel Kiddu, the commander of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

An early member of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, Colonel Kiddu took over as the Jaffna District Commander in 1985 and worked in the position for two years.

Having lost his leg in an attempted coup, he left the homeland while Indian forces were stationed and took steps to coordinate international activities.

On this day in 1993, while returning home by ship with the peace plan of the Quakers, Colonel Kiddu and others were surrounded by the Indian Navy in the Bay of Bengal. They blew up their own ship and became maveerar.

– Lieut. Pure: Mahalingam Jayalingam – Kandiveedee, Jaffna.

– Lieut. Nallavan: Silaganasundaram Rames – Manianthottam, Colombo, Jaffna.

– Lieut. Amuthan: Aloysius Johnson – 2nd Cross Road, Navanthuraiwataku, Jaffna.

– Lieut. Colonel Kuddisiri: Rajaiah Siriganesan – Suthumailai North, Manippai.

– Major. Velan Malaravan: Sundaralingam Sundaravel – Traders Corner, Parutthurai.
