Ethirveerasingam from Ilawalai, Jaffna participated in the Olympic games in the 1950s. He is a student of Central Colleg, Jaffna had won a gold medal in the high jump at the 1958 Asian Games in Tokyo.
This is said to be the first court medal won by Sri Lanka.
