International Women’s Day March 8
On March 8, 1908, 15,000 working women held a rally in New York City, USA, demanding shorter working hours, higher wages, and the right to vote. The Socialist Party of America declared this day as National Women’s Day the following year. The suggestion that this day should be observed as an international day was presented at the International Conference of Working Women held in Copenhagen in 1910. This later evolved into International Women’s Day.
This day, proposed by working women, is still moving in the eyes of educated, office-going, and factory-working women. But many women, as burden-bearers, are still living without light outside this circle. There are many women who struggle in isolation, beyond labor and economic exploitation. There are tens of thousands of women in this society who have sacrificed their lives to raise children in isolation.
On the one hand, women who fight for equal rights with men, on the other hand, there are many women who live and die as martyrs throughout their lives to fulfill the economic needs of the family because men do not take care of the family, do not share the family work, and do not face the economic needs of the family. Especially women living in rural and lower-class areas face this problem more. The suffering of women becoming burden bearers by their fathers before marriage and then by their husbands continues. Not only working women, but also women who take care of the family without going to any work go through this every day.
Therefore, the rights, freedom, and respect for women must start from the family. This is possible only if men also take care of family responsibilities properly, including cooking and raising children. Moving towards that can be complete women’s rights. ******** A woman has the strength to build this nation. The role of women in improving a family and taking the future of children with the right perspective is huge.
They say that a woman can achieve anything if she sets her mind to it. It is true. A woman’s determination is stronger than a man’s. If a man is stronger in physical strength, then a woman is stronger in mental strength. It is no exaggeration to say that behind the various freedom fighters who fought to build this nation is the determination of a woman. In the current environment, where crimes against women are increasing, women have been forced to strengthen their mental strength more. As a testament to such determination and bravery, we can cite the freedom fighter Venkai Velunachiyar.
Our women, who continue to live in our homeland as single women with many mental and physical burdens and hardships, with personality and virtues, are worthy of respect. Despite the scars of war and the mental burdens, our women are still living as martyrs, tirelessly working in many ways to take their families to the next level. Their descendants, today, are doctors, pilots, and engineers, rising to the top in many fields. Let us strengthen this world by bringing out the talents of women who possess many talents and live with understanding and soul.
