Kilinochi Martyrs´ Home (Thuyilum Illam)
I went to the Kilinochchi Martyrs’ Home at 7 am on the 25th as I belonged to a hero’s family. Maveerar Thuyilum Illam, which once looked like a peaceful garden, was bulldozed by Sri Lankan Forces in 2009 when it captured Kilinochchi. Sri Lankan Forces brutally demolished the homes of heroes/martyrs who were worshiped as the heart temple by the people of Tamil Eelam.
The Government of Sri Lanka carried out the Tamil Remembrance Day (Martyrs´/Heroes´ Day) by destroying the places where the heroes´ slept and their right to be remembered.
