TOWARDS OUR PLACES – Mullippatru
In the northern part of the Kilinochchi district of Eelam, within the Pachchilaipalli zone, is the Mullippatru town placed. Mugaavil, Ijakkachi, Sangaththaarvayal, Oorvani, Kanpatru, Aanayiravu,
Mandalaai, Vayalviduthi is villages in Mullippatru.
It says “patru” refer to the town and thorn to the thorny plant. It is also believed that the name Mullippatru may have come from the fact that there are many thorny plants in the area.
The names of the individual villages in the big town rise unique. The name of the big town become obsolete. So is the name Mullipatru.
The town Mullippatru is home to a number of towns that played a key role in the Eelam struggle.
