The history of Thuyilumillam song !
In the early 1980s Kasi Anandan’s songs were sung by Thenisai Sellappa. During the year 1985 in Tamil Nadu, Aruchuna – who later died in the sea – attempted to compose a musical. It was prevented when he became maveeran. Two songs by Kasi Anandan, one song about Thileepan, two songs by Puthuvai brother. Even in the absence of facilities during Thileepan’s fast the songs were recorded in Jaffna. Many people sang this song along with Thirumalai Santhiran. While the Indian army was stationed here manysongs by Puthuvai brother came out in the form of soundtracks.
In 1990, many albums came out in Jaffna. The national leader wanted to make a song “Vengaikalin viduthalai vethangal…” written by Puthuvai brother Anna as Maveerarnaal song. A few lines were added to the song, and it was released as a song to be sung in the Maveerar Thuyilumillam.
Many people sang it with Kannan’s music along with Varna Rameswaran. Some lines were changed the form and that is the song that we hear today.
In 1990, the task of collecting the list of maveerar was given by the leader. The pictures of the maveerar and the details related to them were collected. The details of the maveerar were published in the Eelamurasu newspaper at that time.
The mistakes about the maveerar were corrected. Rathayan brother was sent to Tamil Nadu and a maveerar magazine was printed there containing the pictures of the maveerar. The information in the national leader´s Maveerarnaal speech was incorrect, so it was not published after the national leader said that it should not be published.
In 1990, the national leader delivered his first speech on Maveerarnaal. Since then, his Maveerarnaal speech is seen by all as a policy speech expressing his thoughts on the future activities of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. The text is highly valued all over the world.
In 1991, Kannan Varna Rameswaran group stood on the stage at Koppai Maveerar Thuyilumillam and sang the sang. The Sinhala army ran from the fort. Colonel Banu, who was the Jaffna District Commander at that time, raised a memorial bell.
The song played on Mr. Yogaratnam Yogi’s Martyr’s Day and on the day of the Maveerarnaal. This song was composed by Puthuvai Ratnathurai. Varna Rameswaran had sung this song.
“Moliyaagi engal moochaayi naali modi soodum tamil meethu uruthi! Valikaaddi emmai uruvaakkum thalayvan…”
