Today is International Radio Day
Radio is my identity, and it still is. It was a blessing to be able to watch our radio from a distance and see it grow.
Our radio is really a university.
There, people from the arts and media industry will get used to at least three jobs without realizing it. There were four structures namely news section, art section, documentary section and Tamileelam Radio. Management will be held at the post level of Organizational Incharge, Deputy Incharge, Administrative Liaison, Administrative Manager. The news section has its administrative structure of Chief Correspondent, Correspondent and Deputy Correspondents.
Preparing for a show production is never simple.
There will be an evaluation form for the show, (the first task of my radio days was sorting and grading the letters and filling the evaluation form). In that evaluation system, the programs will be evaluated by the evaluators in four stages as evaluation 01, evaluation 02, coordinator, in charge. After the recording, the program will be sent for broadcasting after the recording is checked. Technicians will be alone in the recording studio and at the broadcasting station (rather than a single person doing both, as is the case with private radio broadcasters today).
Sound recordings were recorded on audio tapes (cassettes). Due to economic constraints, recording equipment that often broke down was used with repeated repairs. Computerized recording and broadcasting rapidly became popular with the peacetime era.
During sound recordings, studio facilities were found to allow at least four people to provide vocals simultaneously. The presence of many people is felt in the studio, when recording serials and general dramas such as “Uyirthelugay”. If someone makes a mistake during a tape recording, the recorder is held responsible. Some programs add music after the recording, while others add music directly during the program.
News section:
Before the peace, only radio and television were used as additional sources of news. The system’s telecommunications equipment was also supported. Some reporters travel on bicycles or available vehicles to collect news. Such messages were read by handwritten readers. After the peace period, electronic devices came into full use. High quality recording equipment and computers were used. Internet, telephone, television, in all areas. Our radio had a huge news structure as reporters. It is grateful to have so many media friends who joined up that day are still supporting us till date.
Employees:
Only a limited number of people’s names are likely to be known to the public by keeping only the voices heard on the radio. But behind that recording and broadcasting, the labors of many people are hidden. Our radio was a union of more than 60 relations: tower erectors, drivers, editors, archivists, typists, financiers, those in charge, freedom fighters. Events, competitions, and special broadcasts are all displayed in our radio station like a festival.
We have lost the pillars of our radio. We are still longing for this greatness of our people.
