Similarly, the administrative branch of Tamil Eelam established a WMC to operate under the administration of TECH and NGOs operating within Tamil Eelam. The WMC was established in Bharathipuram, Kilinochchi on 26.11.05.
The monitoring centre functioned dualistically as a central alert office with advanced technologies which alerted citizens regarding forthcoming intense weather conditions including tsunami warnings. These alerts would be received directly from notable monitoring centres from the US, hence providing the citizens and structures of Tamil Eelam efficient time to prepare themselves against the calamities of natural disasters. Following the detrimental impacts upon Tamil Eelam due to the 2004 Tsunami, such a mechanism would function as a highly defensive mechanism in safeguarding the citizens of Tamil Eelam against natural disasters.
Instruments utilised by the WMC included aneroid barometers and wind anemometers. The facilities endeavored to obtain satellite weather data to further advance the technological abilities of the facility to foster affective monitoring and forecasting within the area.
The foresight involved in the operation of these initiatives within this sector are further indicative of the highly structured nature of the state of Tamil Eelam.
