TOWARDS OUR PLACES – Alagaapuri

Alagaapuri is a village in the Kilinochchi district in the north of Tamileelam. This village is placed in the attractive city of Ramanathapuram.  This village find place as a border village in the old Kandy Road.

Alagaapuri is surrounded by forrest and is located near the village Puthukaadu. Displacement of the Jaffna Peninsula was due to the large number of people who migrated to the Alagaapuri. The military and the government of Sri Lanka has so far blocked the direct way to the village.

People in the village of Alagaapuri live through small plantations, the benefits of wildlife, and labor works. The village is most affected by poverty in the Kilinochchi district because of the drought and the lack of irrigation facilities. Road blocking and the prohibition of using the benefits from wildlife by the government also affect the people in the village.

Alagaapuri is a proud village that has given many maveerar to the land of Tamileelam.

People say that the name Alagaapuri was given to this village by a senior village head who lived here. Although some of the ancient monuments are found in the forest area of ​​the village but the government does not see it because it is an area of Tamileelam with Tamil people.

There is an elementary school here. It is Alagaapuri Primary School. The village people worship in the old primitive way.
