The ancient Eelam Paakatha script, known as Vadapirami

The ancient Eelam Paakatha script, known as Vadapirami, was in use in Eelam prior to Buddhism reaching the island in 270 BC.

The researcher Karunaratne states that the Tamil script, known as Thenpirami, was in use from around 4th century BC sighting the inscriptions of the Pandya dynasty such as Machimaharasa. Among them, the four letters “ந” “ன” “ற” “‘ள” are not found in Prakrit, Sanskrit, Telugu, Kannada or any other language.

It is noteworthy that he has pointed out with various evidence that these letters were used in Tamil, known as Thenbrami (Karunaratne 1984:32).

Therefore, Tamil is the most ancient language on the island, and this can be confirmed through the 7th century BC சே”ந்”த”ன்”மா” ற””ன்” coin of the Naganadu Pandya king of Eelam.

Therefore, the archaeological sites and symbols on which inscriptions with the letters “ந” “ன” “ற” “‘ள” and “வே”ள்””நா” க” ன்”, கண்ண”ன்” மணி” நா” க” ன்” belong to Tamils.

It is imperative of time for the Eelam Tamils to care for these archaeological evidences and to have academic excellence along with political views about these ancient archaeological evidences.
