Chatti Maveerar Thuyilumillam is in Theevakam Velanai

Heroes’ Day Events were held in Theevakam Velanai Chatti Maveerar Thuyilumillam.

The bell rang at 6:05 pm and following a great silence tribute, the premier flame of Chatti Maveerar Thuilumillam was lit by Mr. Chinnathurai Chandrasekaram, the father of two Maveerar.

It was followed by other flames lit by the parents of the heroes and others including relatives, friends, clergy, members of the Pradesa Sabai and members of parliament.

During this time, the song “Thuyilumillam” was aired. First the Maaveerar’s father lit the premier flame. Then, the relatives of Maveerar mounted flames on a pedestal which was decorated in the shape of a ship on the sea. At the same time, they honored the heroic martyrs at sea. Thousands of people gathered here to commemorate the heroes by lighting torches.
