Fighters in Naval Team who died fighting in international waters

Based on the satellite information provided to Sri Lanka by the world powers. On 10.09.2007, two LTTE merchant ships and an oil tanker that had come to supply fuel to them were engaged in their work. One thousand five hundred (1500 NM) nautical miles from Sri Lanka. I.e. in international waters. While they were engaged in their work, the commander of the ‘M.V. Kosiya’, Elilvendan, observed the approach of a naval ship (he did not know which country’s navy it was) and ordered the ships to separate and sail in different directions and reported this information to the command center in Tamileelam.

The three ships were sailing in different directions, at around 1:00 PM. The merchant ship MV Chase led by Colonel Sobithan and the oil tanker ‘M.R.Manyoshi’ led by Lieutenant Colonel Sembagachelvan were attacked and sunk. In this incident, the fighters on board also consumed cyanide according to the tradition of the operation and became epic in the sea.

The third ship, ‘M.V. Kosiya’, used the motor on the ship to attack the naval forces that were approaching the ship of Lieutenant Colonel Elilwenthan. The naval forces, who were slightly disoriented by the shell that fell near the naval ship, continued the attack from a distance without getting close. They also continued to attack. At 3 am the next morning, a heavy bomb attack (topero) from a naval ship hit the bottom of their ship and the ship sank in the sea.

Their sacrifice and heroism during this time is unimaginable. Most of the people on the ship did not have cyanide. The medical officer there, Lt. Col. Tamilmaran, mixed two drugs and injected them with poison and gave them to those who did not have cyanide. Lt. Col. Vengai and Lt. Col. Thiruvarul welded a 120mm mortar cannon, which is only used on land, to the ship and stabilized it. The fellow fighters attacked the navy with the help of the motor.

Major Tamilnambi, Captain Arunan, Captain Pulikutty, and Captain Kundran burned a part of the ship. While extinguishing the fire and even inside the fire, the fellow fighters brought mortar shells and attacked the navy.

They fought with great determination until the end and created a new history at sea on 10 – 11.09.2007.

On 10.09.2007 – 11.09.2007, the Sri Lankan Navy, with international assistance, intercepted the LTTE’s oil tanker ‘M.R. Manyosi’ and the merchant ships ‘M.V. Chase’ and ‘M.V. Kosiya’, which were engaged in activities to strengthen the liberation of Tamileelam in international waters. The fighters became maveerar in the conflict that occurred.
