Five boys were born in one delivery at the Mattacalappu Teaching Hospital,
said the hospital’s director, Dr. Kalaranjini Ganesalingam.
Deputy Director Medical Administrator Maithili Baglat said that the children are in the special care unit. Senior Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Professor Markandu Thirukumar, said that the children were delivered in the 5th ward of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department and that this was the first delivery.

A woman from Karankulam, Mattacalappu, gave birth to 5 boys in one delivery at the Mattacalappu Teaching Hospital yesterday, Monday (26.02.2026).

The couple, Siva and Manojini from Karankulam, have received this rare blessing in one delivery after 8 years of marriage. Hospital sources have said that both the children and the mother are in good health. Since such multiple births are complicated, the babies are being cared for under the special care of hospital staff and nurses.

Meanwhile, it is reported that this is the first time in the history of Mattacalappu district that five boys have been born in a single delivery.
