In the history of the LTTE movement and in the life of the national leader, Madurai is an indispensable place.
Madurai is the national leader’s favorite place. Madurai protected the freedom fighters from seeking medical treatment and became a place to go in many difficult situations. Our national leader Velupillai Prabhakaran’s respectable person, Mr. Tamilkoothanar.
In the early days, he refused to accept the movement and the national leader’s struggle in the national stream from the Congress and criticized it. Eventually, he understood the fake antics of the major parties and said that ethnic politics is for us. That is the only solution! He realized that Prabhakaran was the one for us and lived for Tamil nationalism until his last days.
He was trustworthy with the movement and did a lot of helpful work. He acted as the person in charge of the Madurai Thirunagar camp of the LTTE.
He held a shop-lockdown protest in Madurai to condemn the genocide against Eelam Tamils during the July 1983 ethnic riots. He led a torchlight procession.
He locked the Thiruparankundram Murugan temple and protested. He was a Tamil nationalist who fought completely against Aryanism.
He started the Tamil Nadu Progressive Poet’s Association and organized a felicitation ceremony for scholars who contributed to Tamil.
We are a little happy about this, sir, because we are from the same village. We are related. With that gratitude, Tamil nationalism also pulls us and makes us great. He was born in a hamlet called Odathur and contributed to the Eelam struggle. He spread the seed of Tamil nationalism around Madurai along with Aiya Pala Nedumaran. What can be prouder than this for every person from our Odathur village?
