It was a time of crisis when we could not allow even a grain of arms to be wasted.

It was a time of crisis when we could not allow even a grain of arms to be wasted.

It was a time when we lived simply by reducing our needs as much as possible. Those were the days when we ate porridge, rice, and eggplant curry for three meals a day.

The porridge came in a thin plastic bag, the size of a bag for three people. By the time we unloaded the porridge from the food truck and brought it into the shelters, removing the forest sticks, half the plastic bags would tear, and the porridge would spill onto the ground. We shared the remaining porridge and never asked for more.

After the small amount of sugar given to us was over, we drank milk and drank water. To relieve the fatigue caused by long walks, continuous work, and training, we dried the remaining rice, roasted it, and ate it.

Even during training operations, we counted and shot the arms. How can we waste even a grain of arms at a time like this?
