There is an indelible place for heroes in the soul of our nation. – Tamileelam National Leader V. Prabhakaran.
The forms of oppression of the Sinhalese against the Tamils and Tamil students have always been very cruel. That is why Tamil students, who were enraged against the oppression of the Sinhalese even during their school days, have undertaken many protest activities against the Sinhalese. Many years have passed since the heroic martyrdom of Lt. Paramadeva, a self-respecting Tamil who revolted against Sinhala as a student. Paramadeva was educated in the same school that was formerly known as Kottamunai Mahavidyalayam and is now known as Maddu Hindu College.
Paramadeva, who was suspended from school on 22nd May in 1975 for boycotting the Republic Day of Sri Lanka and mobilizing students to protest, was later reinstated in school following the student uprisings that took place across the North and East.
Paramadeva, a naturally talented student, would have become a doctor or an engineer if he had only thought of his education as his future. Since he loved Tamils from a young age, he had to endure many hardships while studying.
Many Tamils in Mattacalappu led many non-violent struggles against Sinhala. Realizing that these non-violent struggles would not yield any results, Paramadeva and other young Tamils like him, who were passionate about Tamil, began to carry out their own activities against Sinhala.
As a result, Paramadeva had to go into hiding from 1977 onwards. At that time, opposition to Sinhala was manifesting itself in many ways throughout the Tamil homeland. In 1978, Paramadeva, who was involved in defrauding the people of the Sengaladi Bank to obtain the money needed for anti-Sinhala activities in Mattacalappu, was arrested in a clash with the police after sustaining an injury to his hand.
The Sinhalese judiciary, which has been acting against the Tamils for a long time, sentenced Paramadeva to 8 years of rigorous imprisonment in 1981 for the crime of loving the liberation of the Tamil nation. Paramadeva, who accepted this sentence without any tension or confusion and with a smiling face, endured a long imprisonment in the struggle for the motherland. Paramadeva, who had been imprisoned in Bohambara, Welikada, New Magazine, and Makara prisons, was transferred to Mattacalappu prison in July 1983 following the brutal killing of Tamil political prisoners by Sinhala government thugs.
The Tamil political prisoners in Mattacalappu prison were trying to break out of the prison and escape.
Since Paramadeva was from Mattacalappu, everyone expected more help from him. On 22nd September 1983, with Paramadeva’s great contribution, the Tamil prisoners broke out of the Maddu prison and escaped. Paramadeva committed himself to the cause of the release of all Tamil political prisoners and escaped.
After his release from prison, Paramadeva believed deeply in the Tamileelam National Leader Prabhakaran and the armed struggle of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. And that only through that armed struggle could the Tamils gain their rights. So he accepted the leadership of the leader Prabhakaran and began his life as a freedom fighter in Tamileelam. After completing his training in the first team in India, Paramadeva returned to Tamileelam as a guerrilla fighter.

After returning home, Paramadeva took the lead in the LTTE attack on the Ottisuttan police station and the guerrilla attack on the army in Kokkilai.
Following this, Paramadeva, who went to Mattacalappu as the commander of the Mattacalappu attack unit of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, led the attack on the Kaluwanchikudi police station, which was composed of special Sinhala police commandos. He fought resolutely at the forefront and became maveeran. A young guerrilla fighter named Ravi alias Thambipillai Vamadevan from Magiladitheevu, who fought with him in the attack, also became maveeran.
While some were celebrating the one-year anniversary of his imaginary prison break on 23rd September 1983, Paramadeva, who played a major role in the imprisonment, transformed himself into a complete fighter within a single year and sacrificed his life for the motherland.
If a man lives and dies as a fighter, they will live forever, and someone will be talking about those fighters, Paramadeva would say. Through this, we can know how deep Paramadeva’s understanding of human life was.
He had told the fighter who went to lift Paramadeva, who was injured by the police bullets during the police station attack, to tell his mother that her son died a hero’s death during the police station attack. The determination and bravery of that fighter even at the point of death will always be thrilling. The oppression and ethnic cleansing of the Sinhalese against the Tamils has always affected the Tamil people in the East very badly.
The brutal attacks carried out by the Sinhalese in the Amparai district have always made those people realize the value of freedom and the desire for freedom. That is the reason why many noble freedom fighters have provided themselves to Tamileelam liberation struggle.
The freedom struggle has achieved great growth today. It has carried the dream of the divine liberation that fell of the 22nd of September 1984. Some of the special plants in the liberation crop grown by the people of Tamileelam have also hidden and grown and today show their uniqueness to the people. The Tamils’ struggle for freedom, which was grown and protected by the sacrifice and blood of thousands of fighters, has been betrayed by the money-grubbing thugs and the people are experiencing unspeakable suffering.
The day when the suffering of these people will end is not far off. The time will come when the whole world must accept that Tamileelam is the solution for the Tamils.
Thousands more divines will be formed in Mattacalappu under the leadership of the National Leader of Tamileelam, Prabhakaran, to destroy the traitorous thugs, drive away the enemy forces and fulfill the dream of our maveerar.
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam pay their tribute to Lieutenant Ramalingam Paramadeva and his brother Vamadeva, who died fighting for the cause of Tamileelam.
