Living in war does not mean living in death
Living in war does not mean living in death. In the war on the side of truth, death may sometimes occur. It is now when one cannot accept this death and continue to move forward that the door of the liberation struggle is closed.
All the people who have fought and gained freedom in the world have faced hardships, losses and sorrows. A country or a nation that becomes tired of seeing hardships and seeing losses cannot touch the roots of freedom.
Because no enemy is going to give us freedom on a golden bridge. Today, the price that our people pay for freedom is great. The burden they bear is heavy. However, our people, despite living a turbulent daily life, remain steadfast in their struggle.
The Navaly human sacrifice and the Nagerkovil massacre are cruel actions planned by the enemy to intimidate our people, create a mental panic and separate them from the struggle. But, contrary to the enemy’s prediction, this has made our people even more determined and aggressive in their struggle for freedom. Every planned action by the enemy is only adding strength to the war of liberation.
The human sacrifice of Navaly has become an unbearable humiliation for the Sri Lankan government in the world. It has also become an event that unites the Tamil people living all over the world. It has created a situation where the world Tamil people support our struggle with a unified voice. Similarly, the massacre of school students in Nagerkovil has led all the writers, artists, poets and scholars scattered here to a journey towards a common goal.
Even those who had differences in their views on art and literature are outraged here at the cruelty being inflicted on the race by someone else.
Yarlpanam´s art and literary organizations, university professors and lecturers have all come together to raise their voices against the war being waged against us. It is heartening to see that, considering the passage of time and realizing the need for liberation, they have single-mindedly identified themselves with the side of the liberation war. All these are progressive events towards the victory of our liberation struggle.
