Lt. Col. Akila’s role in slowly working for the revival of the ‘fire child’ that emerged within our national leader’s military is immense. That personality, her versatility, the pride that flew beyond our country.
Her unique place cannot be filled. Her feet, which never took off their shoes, showed a unique majesty in her gait while walking. The power of that slender figure and the strength of determination made her an exemplary fighter in everything.
Akila’s memories touched all the fighters. Her role and work amidst the unspeakable struggles that refuse to accept the loss.
These are the pages where she cannot be identified. Historical events that cannot be written down. The times when she set out to serve the movement were very critical. A group of women who were inspired by struggle, started fighting within their families and came out and dedicated themselves to this nation. They gathered in the ‘Suthanthira Paravaikal’ (Freedom Birds) team formed by Lt. Col. Thileepan.
They worked day and night to awaken the minds that were sleeping in the power of darkness. Akila also joined that team. From that day to this day, she has identified herself only by her actions. The bullets fired from her gun have never missed their target. A nameable shooter. That unfailing nature of her struggle had permeated all aspects of her life. Her tireless work and determination to complete any task until it was completed were unique to her. Her way of approaching problems was different. She could stand before us, thinking and thinking about solving a problem.
Her self-development and efficiency in developing each fighter have made her deeply embedded in our hearts. Those days when she spent time on any task, no matter how she ran around or faced sleepless nights, she would educate the fighters. Her policy of everyone knowing everything took effect. Many fighters in the camp learned from repairing machines to how to cook deliciously. These are some lines taken from the introduction to her history.
Lt. Col. Akila became maveeran in the morning sun on 30.10.1995. Our Akila became maveeran in the biggest battle of Valikamam.
