Yarlpanam District is home to beautiful forests. Coconut trees that touch the sky abound and provide prosperity. Kumuthan was born in a small village called Uduthurai in the east of Vadamaradchi to the couple Thavarasathurai and Annalakshmi. His parents’ given name was Nagesvaran. Nagesvaran was their eldest son. He grew up with three younger brothers and four younger sisters.
He was very affectionate with his siblings. Nagesvaran did his primary education in Yarlpanam. He studied at the Aliyavalai C.C.T.K. Kanishta Vidyalaya from year one to year six. He was very good at studies. He was a good student in studies, sports and art. He was well received by the school principal and teachers among the students. He would behave kindly and politely with everyone in the school. But he had to stop his studies in between.
Nagesvaran’s family business was fishing. He could swim well in his childhood. There is a proverb that says that a tiger cub should be taught to jump and a fish fry to swim. He did not need anyone to teach him how to swim. In his childhood, he would go to work in the sea with his father. In his childhood, family life was in his hands. He grew up as a young man with experience in fishing. Nagesvaran worked to increase his economic wealth by supporting his father.
Nagesvaran grew up as a young man with an interest in the arts. He has received awards for his training in martial arts. He is also interested in sports. He is a sportsman in the Senthamil Sports Club in his area. He has participated in sports such as football and running and has received special awards. He has also performed as an artist in rural art forms such as Koothu. In the Koothu event, Nagesvaran has played the role of Kaathavarayan and has received praise from the people.
He would also participate in rope swings, swimming, and fights. Nageswaran is a very brave and determined young man. He has grown to the point of being able to do fishing on his own through his own efforts. Thus, while his youth was passing in fishing, there would be ferocious attacks by the Sri Lankan Navy at sea. At such times, he would leave his rope in the sea and swim to the shore. He had escaped from the Navy many times.
Since his house was located along the beach, he would stand and play with his siblings on the beach. He would also play happily with them like a little child.
In 1991, when Vetrilakeni was occupied by the Sri Lankan forces, people had to migrate. His family was in the Sembiyanpattu area. At a time when the atrocities of the Sri Lankan forces were increasing in the homeland, Nagesvaran realized himself and joined the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam to strengthen the liberation of the motherland.
He joined the Naval Team. He completed the initial and basic training in a fast manner. He got along well with the instructors and fighters in the training camp. He received prizes for his skills in the training camp and emerged as a good freedom fighter. He changed his name to Kumuthan. Kumuthan’s elegant appearance, upright gait, direct approach, and fearless heart are still remembered.
Kumuthan had received heavy training to command officer training. Kumuthan, who already had sea experience, was an excellent fighter of Naval Team. He was a fighter who had fought in many naval battles. All naval training was a favorite of him. He has also received many awards from the chief. He has made his mark in many sports such as swimming, speed swimming, pole vaulting, boat racing, and speed running. Kumuthan’s connection with the sea goddess since childhood was strong during these times. Kumuthan swims like a brave tiger in blue stripes.
His work was also paramount in the gunboat attack in the Paruthithurai sea on 6-09-2001. During the battle at sea, Lt. Colonel Kumuthan was hit by an enemy shell.
A LTTE that swam like a fish in the sea sacrificed his life for Tamileelam. Tamileelam will never forget the heroic feelings of this freedom fighter. Heroes are those who are blessed to live even after death. They are immortals who will live if the world exists.
