In the heart of the Vanni region, there was the Mangulam Sinhala army camp. It had committed many atrocities there.

This camp had been besieged by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam since the beginning of the Second Eelam War. A plan is being prepared to attack this army camp located in our area of control. It is decided to launch a Karumpuli attack on the army camp and capture it. When Commander Balraj, who led this attack, said. “We were making plans to attack this camp at that time. Bork said, he knew the most about the Mangulam camp. So, he said that he should go with the lorry.”

The determination was evident in that voice, “He is not new to the struggle. He was the district in-charge. He had led many attacks from the front.” Commander Balraj continued, “On November 23, 1990, he went as a Karumpuli. Before leaving, he hugged me up for the last time and said, “I am leaving, the Mangulam camp is over,” and drove away in an explosive vehicle. In a short time, a loud explosion was heard. The camp was destroyed, and a few hours later, he said, “The camp has been captured.”

A few days before this attack Bork went home for visit.

His village is located on the Sinhalese border. It is Semamadu in the Vanni. He had been wandering around the village since he was a child, enjoying everything in the village, including the pond, the field, and the forest. He said goodbye to them. One day, the children of the neighboring house were playing under a tree. He went there and sat down under a tree and talked to the children.

“Kids, the Maveerar Naal is coming, right? If I die by chance, what will you do for your neighbors?” “Why? Are you going to die?” the children replied. Bork laughed and said, “If I die, you all plant a tree and make it grow, ok?” The children laughed, and Bork laughed along with him.

The final day of leaving home came. After lunch, he lay down in the house and asked his mother to lay next to him. After a while, Bork mother also spread a mat on the floor and lay down.

Later that day, he said goodbye to everyone, including his father, brothers, sisters.

Finally, he came to his mother and asked casually, “Mother, I would like you to put a dot on my hand.” The mother, who did not know anything, happily did as the child wished. The mother also said that this was how he usually behaved, like a small child.

Bork said goodbye while smiling, stood on the porch of the house and looked back for a moment. Then he left.

After a while…

“Mother, brother forgot his clothes,” said Bork´s brother in a hurry.

“Perhaps they are old, that’s why he left them,” the mother said. Today Bork’s mother says. “At that time, I could not understand why he acted differently. But only after he died as Karumpuli, I understand everything. Why he asked me to lie down next to him, and I understand why he left his clothes.” Bork´s mother’s tongue was twisted.
