Dear people of Tamileelam!
This article is a quote from the front cover of a notebook that a fighter named Pratheepan, who died as a maveeran on 28-8-90 at the Fort Police Station, had with him.
The first word of the quote printed on the top of the notebook was “Education will determine the future”, in which the word “Education” was cut out with “Struggle will determine the future”.
I am putting before the youth of today the new perspective of a young man who came to struggle from a student for reflection.
This speaker’s new perspective on the factor that determines the future is very appropriate for today’s times.
It is true that education is essential for human progress. At one time, it was education that led to the economic rise of a significant number of Tamils.
It is true that education and the job opportunities that came with it determined the future of a significant number of Tamils at a time when there were no struggles for survival.
Today, the Tamil people of this land are waging a struggle to live freely, with dignity.
Education and the knowledge that comes through it must be used for this struggle.
It is regrettable that the education that our Tamil community has received so far and the knowledge it has provided have not been sufficiently useful for our land or the prosperous and independent life of our people in today’s difficult circumstances.
When our people rose up and shed blood for their freedom, our education did not contribute to the liberation struggle to the extent that it could be satisfied.
The doctors, engineers and intellectuals, the sons of this land who created this education, were not there when our Tamileelam was suffering to give birth to freedom. After receiving the education, they became intellectual workers and left Tamileelam.
A thousand reasons can be given to justify this, all of which are selfish factors that arose from the fear that they would not be able to maintain their false statuses in the face of the struggle that had blocked their economic opportunities.
On the contrary, doctors, engineers, technologists and thinkers who had gained battlefield experience without formal education are today standing by Tamileelam and sharing the joys and sorrows. They are striving for the healthy birth of the child of freedom.
When the truth is like this, it cannot be said that education determines the future of our people in the present era.
Struggle determines the future.
The education we have received so far and the knowledge it has provided has not been aimed at individual progress but at social development. The reason for this is that it was foreigners who created and regulated our educational system.
Like everything else, the rulers considered education as a commodity that would be useful to them. The foreigners are giving our people an education that is not in line with the spirit of freedom.
That is why that education has not helped our land and people in this difficult situation. It must also be said that on many occasions it has dared to take a stand against our liberation struggle.
This does not mean that we should completely ignore education. Education should be in a way that can be useful to our land and people.
Today, the Tamil people can protect themselves through war.

Without war, we have no life. That is why today’s people should receive an education that can help our liberation struggle. Today’s Tamileelam students should receive an education based on war.
Today, the liberation struggle of our people will justify the alien mentality that has existed in our society until now. It is destroying the colonial social movement that tolerates the slave mentality and denies the spirit of war.
This is a result of the high development of our liberation struggle.
This transitional phase in which these changes towards social development are taking place is unacceptable to some and creates hopelessness for some.
Beyond the unacceptable nature of this hopelessness and attitudes, those progressive changes are slowly taking place.
As a result, revolutionary views on society; new waves of thought are emerging.
This is the expression of.
This is the lofty thought of Pratheepan, a 16-year-old young fighter, who dedicated his life for the liberation of Tamileelam.
