Today’s Sri Lankan Independence Day with Sanganatha

Veerakesari 4-2-1948 Editorial
A noteworthy point mentioned in the news that came under this editorial

One
The Nanthi flag should not be flown.

In areas like Yarlpanam, Thiriconamalai, which do not recognize the Lion Flag, the Lion Flag will not be officially flown during the Independence Day celebrations.

But at the same time, the Nanthi flag will not be allowed to be hoisted on government flagpoles.

In other areas where the British Union Jack flag is used, the Union Jack flag and the Lion Flag are flown on separate flagpoles or on the same flagpole will be flown.

However, during the Independence Day celebrations, only the Lion Flag should be hoisted when a special flagpole is erected, and the flag hoisting ceremony is held.

In places like Yarlpanam, Thiriconamalai, Lion Flags should not be used for official purposes, even for decoration.

The Permanent Secretary to the Home Minister, Mr. V. Kumaraswamy, has sent a circular to the Provincial Government Agents regarding these matters.

This was stated in the front-page news of the Veerakesari on the first “Independence” Day.
