Maraimalai Adigal ( July 15 , 1876 – September 15 , 1950 ) was a famous Tamil scholar and Tamil researcher. He is fluent in Tamil, Northern languages ​​and English. Birth

Vedasalam is the natural name of the foothills. He was born on 15 July 1876 at 6.35 pm in Thirukkalukkunram . He is survived by his father Sokkanathapillai and mother Chinnammaiyar. His father worked as a surgeon in Nagapattinam . Thirukkalukkunram , who had been childless for many years, named his child Vedasalam because he had given birth to a child after fasting for the sake of Lord Shiva and Amma Sokkamma. He later changed his name to Maraimalai (Vedam = Hide, Asalam = Mountain) in 1916 due to his isolation. He studied up to Form IV in the high school of the Wesleyan Charitable College in Maraimalai, Nagai. He was unable to continue his schooling due to the death of his father. However, he learned Tamil from Narayanasamy Pillai, a Tamil scholar who owned a bookstore in Nagai. Somasundara Nayakkar, popularly known as ‘Saiva Siddhanta Chandamarutham’, learned Saiva Siddhanta from them.

After coming to Chennai, he worked as a Tamil teacher with VC Sooriyanarayana Chatterjee at the Christian College. In 1905, he founded the Saiva Siddhanta Maha Samasam . He also presided over its conference. After working as a professor for many years, he started the “Samarasa Sutta Sanmarkka Sangam” on 22.04.1912 in Pallavaram on the policy of Ramalinga Vallalar. Later, due to the involvement of Tanidhamil, it was renamed as “Pothunilaik Kazhagam”. Thirumurugan set up a printing press and published many books. He created a library called the Bell Library .

Maraimalai feet are also referred to as “Pallavaram Sage”.
