Prabhakaran’s understanding

Prabhakaran’s understanding

All these revolutionary youths, who were interested in violent politics, called themselves the Tamil Students’ Union. This organization was run by a graduate student named Sathiyaseelan, Sivakumaran, Prabhakaran, Thangathurai, etc. who were associated with this organization.
Due to ineffective leadership, this organization did not function properly. Sathiyaseelan only incited the youth but did not dare to enter the field. Prabhakaran, frustrated with the leadership of the union due to the lack of a revolutionary policy plan or action, lack of clarity about the armed struggle, and the successive failures of violent incidents, decided to go it alone.

Prabhakaran understood that the violent uprising that had spread randomly and without direction was only an expression of the heartache of the youth community, and not a struggle for the rights of the people. He also understood the historical need to build a revolutionary armed struggle organization with a policy program that set national liberation as its ideal.

Prabhakaran, determined to build a revolutionary liberation organization with discipline, control, and a policy program and to carry out a decisive armed struggle, was actively involved in that effort from mid-1972. Revolutionary youth with great courage, dedication, and a sense of liberation rallied behind Prabhakaran.
