TOWARDS OUR PLACES – Puloppalai

Puloppalai is a beautiful village located in the Pachchilaipalli area in the northern Kilinochchi district of Tamileelam. This village is an ancient village. During Portuguese time there were schools and churches established in the area.

Kokkaddiveli, Arathiveli, Iththaalai and Mudichappalli are series of open fields with a land of about 180 acres and over 450 acres of coconut groves. Araththimurugan Temple, Araththiyamman Temple, St. Pethuruvar Temple, Anthony’s Church are temples and churches known here. The St. Pethuruvar Temple is the oldest and is from the period of Portuguese. And Araththiyamman Temple is following the old and ancient spiritual.

The southern Puloppalai is with seawater, which supports the livelihood of the people in the village.  Coconut farming, industrial work and fishing are considered as the livelihood of the people in the village.

Puloppalai is a village with many historical pages. The village has its own place in the history of Tamileelam war. Many maveerar was born here in the village of Puloppalai. The fame, prosperity and sacrifice of the village Puloppalai will always be high like coconut trees here.
