Puthuvai Rathinathurai is the liberation poet of Tamil Eelam
He was born on 03.12.1948 in Puththoor in Jaffna District.
He started writing poetry at the age of 14. He also wrote many poems under the pseudonyms Viyaasan and Maalika.

The poet Puthuvai Rathinathurai wrote such intense poems that give the most inspirational beliefs of life. He began to write poetry at the age of fourteen, and at the age of thirty-seven he joined The liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
“I did join the liberation movement to fight for the liberation of our people. I did not expect to continue to writing poetry. But since my patience was poetry before I joined the movement, my task here was also to look after the art and culture in the movement. I am fulfilling this task on very carefully,” said Puthuvai Rathinathurai.
“My poetry not only speaks in Tamil Eelam, it also speaks in every language wherever it needs.”
