Shield won abroad being handed over to the National Leader

Mr.V.Prabakaran, the Tamil National Leader expressed this sentiment while addressing the members of the Tamil Eelam Netball team, which won in 18 matches in UK and many other European countries and the members of the Tamil Eelam Sports Council in a ceremony held in Kilinochchi today, Monday 8th September.

He further said that the Tamil Eelam Sports Council should endeavour to promote traditional Tamil games and gain a place for the Tamil Eelam players in the international arena. This Netball team which participated in the 8th Tamil sports festival in London, though it was its first performance abroad, was able to win the prestigious shield which was formally handed over to the Tamil National Leader in the above ceremony by the team’s captain Nishanthi Rajaratnam. The National Leader, after accepting the shield, honoured the players by awarding them with certificates of merit.

This team had the rare opportunity of playing with 16 teams selected from the Tamil Diaspora in many European locations and two teams consisting exclusively of European Nationals. Associated with the National Leader in this ceremony were Mr.S.P.Tamilselvan, Head of the Political wing, Mr.Paappaa, Head of the Tamil Eelam sports council, Mr.Inpan, Sports council coordinator and all district level coordinators.
