Her hands are quick and brain, quicker. The young animator answers the questions with quick wit, as her pentablet chalks out a caricature. At the age of 13, Sindhuja Rajamaran is a CEO and an ambassador of Corel Software Company.

Sindhuja, a Class IX student of Velammal Matriculation, specialises in animation (2D, 3D and walk through) and character design. Sindhuja’s Guinness record attempt of fastest animation film making (she created a three-minute animation short film on global warming within eight and half hours for Exnora International, carried out at Spencer’s Plaza) landed her the position of CEO at Seppan (providing animation and web designing service) launched by First Planet in October.

Sindhuja was recognised as the youngest digital caricature artist by the Corel Company in 2009. She was adjudged the Fastest 2D and 3D Animator by NASSCOM at the Gaming and Animation Conclave 2010 at Hyderabad. She is the ambassador of Corel’s Painter in India, giving demos of the product in India.

“I was doing small time animations at home, which I could showcase only to my family and friends. Then I did an animation with a message – do not disturb the insects – for a school project, which I showcased to my class. Now these projects and exposure, followed my feat, have come as an eye opener on what’s in store for animation and animator in the world of creativity,” says Sindhuja.

Heart of a child

Her employer Seppan currently handles three projects – Virtual Street (a walkthrough), Garbo.in and First Planet. Her work samples are available in the website www.seppan.com. They are technically sound and content wise bring out the heart of a child.

Sindhuja displays confidence in work and prudence in talk – she knows what and how much to reveal. “Please don’t mention about the brands we are working for at this stage. We are only a month-old,” says the young girl. Well, here is a good boss in the making.

Sindhuja, who has taken a one year off from school, is pretty cool about her academics. “I will attend classes for the last two months and take up my annual examination,” she says.

And family gives its 100 per cent support at home and workplace as well. “I started operating computer since my first motor activity and with my dad into animation, I started growing interest for it,” says Sindhuja.

Her father is the first digital caricaturist recognised by Indian Institute of Cartoonist. He is passionate about this art to the extent that he quit his job as a health inspector to take up digital caricaturing full time. He works along with her daughter for Seppan and her freelancing projects.

Indhuja, her elder sister, is also an achiever in a different arena. She has been recognised as the youngest Haiku writer in Japanese by Japanese Consulate. Incidentally, Seppan means entertainment in Japanese.

Sindhuja is also a yoga champion winning the Champion of Champion honour in 2006-07 at the State level competition conducted by the Government.

With her calendar filled with activities, the dream is only growing bigger and yardstick getting higher. “I want to make it at the Vancouver Film School (VFS), Canada, to study and excel in animation,” says Sindhuja.
