Jaffna University’s Professor Puniyamoorthy Ravirajan has been honored as one of Asia’s top 100 scientists, highlighting the scientific excellence emerging from Tamil Eelam. Senior Physics Professor Puniyamoorthy Ravirajan of the University of Jaffna has been included in the ‘Asian Scientist 100’ list compiled by Asian Scientist magazine, a prominent publication from Singapore.
Published every year, the list highlights the exceptional achievements of outstanding scientists throughout the Asian continent. Typically, the scientists selected must have received a national or international award for their quality research publications. The criteria emphasize significant scientific discoveries or leadership roles in academia or the profession. Professor Puniyamoorthy Ravirajan, having served as Dean of Science for four years, has received numerous national awards.
He has received significant honors, including the Outstanding Young Researcher Award in Physical Sciences from Vice-Chancellors and Directors, the Young Scientist Award from the National Science Foundation, and several Presidential Awards for Outstanding Research Publications granted by the National Research Council. His research is highly cited globally.
Senior Professor of Physics Puniyamoorthy Ravirajan, who has been selected as one of the top 100 scientists in Asia due to his internationally renowned research activities, has brought pride not only to the University of Jaffna but also to the land of Yaalpaanam and, through it, to the nation of Tamil Eelam.
