THE FACES OF WAR

The history of the world has recorded many struggles for human liberation. These struggles have fought oppressions in the name of race and of colour and triumphed in the face of various odds, difficulties and of repression.

The battles faced and losses suffered by the people in the sanguine struggle for the liberation of Tamil Eelam were no less. So many of them left the land of their birth and their own people to go out and live as refugees in various countries of the world.

What is more, the worst tragedy of this century has taken place in Tamil Eelam. There is at present no other nationality whose plight is as miserable as that of the Tamil nationality. It is most painful that the Eelam Tamil Nationality has so
forcibly been wronged and so totally been internationally abandoned. The life  of Eelam Tamils has been scattered in the crossfire of rivalries for regional domination by the big power vultures. A people that was once living in prosperity has lost its very life.

Yet the Tamil nationality ought to rise up and fight, again.

It is not within me to stand aloof from any struggle. That is impossible. As a human being and as an artist who has been and absorbed the Eelam struggle from 1983, I have already put out two collections, namely The Storming Colours and The Life-frozen Colours.

And now The Faces of War – a witness to history.
