The LTTE forces stopped the planned Sinhala settlement.
The Sri Lankan army was rapidly preparing for the Sinhala government’s planned Sinhala settlement in the heartland of Tamileelam, Manalaru, after brutally attacking and expelling the Tamil people who had been living there in their whole life. At the same time, the Sri Lankan army’s battalions were also quickly set up to provide security for this planned Sinhala settlement.
The Manalaru Kalamunai intelligence teams informed the commanders, Anbu and Veeman, this news. These commanders informed the national leader. He said that the Sinhala resettlement plan was being set up to divide the provinces of the North-East Tamils and to destroy the continuous territory of the Tamils. He ordered to attack and destroy the barracks’ providing security for these. He sent the commanders on their way, saying that no harm should be done to the Sinhala people who had been settled in this attack. The national leader gave a good attack plan based on the data provided by the intelligence teams. Accordingly, teams consisting of two hundred male and female freedom fighters were divided and given rigorous training.
After the training was completed, the attack plan was presented to Special Commander Anbu at the Kamal camp. Special Commander Anbu clearly stated a point to Commander Veeman, who was leading the field. Our national leader has deeply explained the importance of the Manal River in the Tamil homeland and entrusted us with the responsibility of protecting it. Therefore, these barracks´ must be destroyed at any cost so that the homeland of our people is not divided. He stated this matter in a stern tone because if these barracks´ are not destroyed, the planned Sinhala immigration cannot be stopped. Every fighter understood the depth of this matter and resolved in their heart that these barracks´ should be destroyed.
The plan is to attack and destroy all the barracks set up for the planned Sinhala immigration project. That is more than twenty-five barracks. As per the plan, on the night of 02.03.1992, the investigation teams moved the attack teams very secretly through the dense forests and on 03.03.1992 about one o’clock in the morning, they were brought close to the enemy’s guard posts to be attacked. The attack began at two o’clock in the morning of that day. Within a short time after the attack began, all the guard posts came under the complete control of the LTTE. After destroying all the captured guards, the LTTE returned to the base with the captured weapons. This successful attack was led by Commander Veeman and assisted by Lt. Col. Gajenndran (martyred on 30.12.2006) and all the operations were coordinated by the Mullai Manalaru District Special Commander Lt. Col. Anbu (martyred on 12.11.1993).
We also remember Lt. Col. Ilampuli, who gathered intelligence for this attack and moved the attack teams into the field within the specified time and participated in the fighting and later became maveeran.
The commander who led the field in this successful attack, Major Veeman, the commander who led the field in this successful attack, became maveeran.
